Overview of Maison Chance and its Mission

In a world marked by wars, differences, and inequality, it is easy to overlook the importance of small acts of kindness. Society often seems increasingly focused on individual success and material possessions, yet true value is frequently found in helping others and creating opportunities. The power of privilege is real – not everyone begins from the same starting point.

Maison Chance is a non-governmental organisation in Vietnam that supports orphans, street children, and people with disabilities by providing housing, healthcare, education, and vocational training. During my visit, I was welcomed by Y Nam, whose kindness and openness made a lasting impression. The organisation is also seeking volunteers, including pharmacists, dentists, and English teachers.

Blaih - Background and Artistic Work

One story that stood out to me is Blaih’s (first photo). She grew up in very difficult conditions, facing poverty, family instability, and a lack of support from an early age. She was born with severe physical disabilities, missing one leg and both arms. After struggling to find stability, she eventually came to Ho Chi Minh City in search of a better life, but opportunities were limited due to her condition.

Through Maison Chance, she found a place where she could begin again. There, she started learning embroidery and later painting, where her talent gradually developed. Her work today reflects precision, patience, and a strong sense of expression – showing how much can grow when someone is given the right support and environment.

Training Programmes and Daily Activities

Maison Chance offers a wide range of activities and training, from computer skills and sewing to jewellery making and painting. These programmes are designed to help people become more independent and build a stable future.

It is a place that focuses on potential rather than limitations, highlighting how meaningful support can make a long-term difference. If you ever have the opportunity to visit, support, or contribute in any way, I encourage you to do so: https://maison-chance.org/en.

I decided to visit southern Vietnam and chose Ho Chi Minh City quite spontaneously. It turned out that April is actually one of the best months to visit, thanks to the dry season and generally stable weather – an important factor to consider when (...)
