Singapore – A City of the Future

Singapore is often called the city of the future thanks to its futuristic architecture, advanced technology, and smart urban planning that seamlessly blends innovation with sustainability.

It is one of the most impressive cities I have visited. At the same time, it is known for its strict laws – for example, drug offences are severely punished, and vaping is prohibited. As a result, Singapore is also one of the safest countries in the world; as a woman, I felt completely comfortable walking around even at night.

The level of cleanliness is exceptional – one of the few cities that reminded me of this standard was Taipei.

Culture, Nature & City Life

What surprised me most is that Singapore is both a city and a country at the same time. Despite its relatively small size, it is incredibly diverse – a place where different cultures, religions, and traditions coexist harmoniously.

This diversity is also reflected in the food scene, which offers everything from Chinese and Indian to other international cuisines. I also visited attractions such as the Singapore Oceanarium and River Wonders, where I saw a wide range of fascinating species, including manatees, giant river fish, and pandas.

One of the memorable moments was seeing the famous giant pandas, which are part of a conservation programme. Another memorable experience was the cable car ride from Mount Faber, offering breathtaking views over the city skyline, the harbour, and the surrounding greenery – a reminder of how closely nature and urban life are connected here.

Gardens by the Bay – Nature Meets Innovation

One of the highlights of my trip was spending the day with a friend from my pharmacy background at Gardens by the Bay – a futuristic nature park made up of several themed areas.

The most impressive were the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest, an indoor rainforest-like space with a stunning waterfall and misty atmosphere. Walking through these felt almost like stepping into another world.

The iconic Supertrees are not just visually striking – they are designed to be sustainable structures. They help generate solar energy, collect rainwater, and support vertical gardens with thousands of plants. Especially in the evening, when they light up during the Garden Rhapsody show, the entire place feels almost unreal – like being on another planet.
