Malaysia – A Cultural Blend of Asia

Malaysia is a fascinating country shaped by its rich multicultural identity, where Malay, Chinese, and Indian cultures coexist in everyday life. This diversity can be seen in the architecture, traditions, and especially the food, with an incredible mix of flavours available almost everywhere.

It is a place where mosques, temples, and modern buildings stand side by side, creating a unique and lively atmosphere. What makes Malaysia special is this balance between strong cultural roots and ongoing development, giving the country both character and energy.

Batu Caves – Colourful Stairs & Curious Monkeys

One of the most iconic places near Kuala Lumpur is the Batu Caves, a limestone hill with a series of caves and Hindu temples. To reach the main cave, I climbed the famous 272 colourful steps, which felt even more challenging in the heat.

At the entrance stands the impressive golden statue of Lord Murugan, one of the tallest statues of a Hindu deity in the world. Inside, the caves open up into a large space filled with temples and natural rock formations.

The monkeys are impossible to miss – they are everywhere and quite bold, often trying to grab food or belongings, so it is best to stay careful and keep everything close.

Kuala Lumpur – Skyscrapers & Skyline Views

Kuala Lumpur is a vibrant city where modern skyscrapers blend with traditional elements, creating a constantly evolving skyline. The Petronas Twin Towers, once the tallest buildings in the world, remain the city’s most recognisable landmark and look especially beautiful when lit up in the evening. Nearby, Merdeka 118, now the second tallest building in the world, adds to the city’s modern character.

Beyond the busy city centre, I also visited the Perdana Botanical Garden, a peaceful green space that offers a nice break from the urban atmosphere. One of the interesting experiences was staying in an apartment with access to an infinity pool on the 35th floor. Kuala Lumpur combines tradition and modern life in a way that makes it a very interesting place to explore.
